Student Engineer (Civil) PO1 - Asset Management- Role Type: Part-time during university semesters (2–3 days per week) and full-time during university breaks
- Eligibility: Applicants must be currently enrolled in their second or third year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) accredited under the Washington Accord.
- Contract Period: May 2026 - November 2026
Role Overview As an Undergraduate Student Engineer (Civil), you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to support road infrastructure projects, with a focus on heavy vehicle access and permit coordination. The role provides hands-on experience across design, construction, maintenance, and project support activities while developing practical engineering and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in reviewing and managing workflows related to heavy vehicle access and permit processing to ensure requirements are met efficiently.
- Help identify potential constraints or risks on heavy vehicle routes and support discussions around route changes or improvements where required.
- Support the planning and coordination of road and bridge maintenance activities, including preparation of work instructions.
- Develop practical engineering skills by:
- Calculating quantities for construction materials
- Reviewing and analysing material test results
- Identifying quality issues and non conformances
- Supporting risk assessments and control measures during construction
- Assist with the delivery of projects, or components of projects, under supervision.
- Support planning activities to ensure outcomes are effective, cost?conscious, and aligned with industry best practice.
- Follow established quality management procedures and contribute to accurate documentation.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to support smooth project delivery.
