Procurement Officer - Townsville
Fixed term, Full-time - 15 months

Primary purpose of position
The position exists to provide support to the Procurement Supervisor in developing, maintaining, and reviewing the organisation's procurement corporate practices, policy, and procedures.
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for coordinating and assisting staff with sustainable procurement initiatives, coordinating procurement, providing support for Technology One modules, monitoring internal procurement systems, offering procurement advice, and managing goods and service supply arrangements.

Position specific responsibilities
• Release/generate purchase requisitions after completing compliance/verification checks
• Generate purchase orders and reorder inventory items
• Expedite purchase orders
• Support and educate personnel in good procurement practice
• Participate in stock take activities
• Issue tools, machinery, and inventory items (when store person is absent)
• Resolve issues arising from purchase orders
• Issuing and control of keys
• Delivery and pick up of stores and equipment in the general Townsville area using the organisation's vehicles (when required)
• Any other duties as directed by the Manager Procurement and Contracts
• Participate in emergency response activities and associated training to support the restoration of operations in the event of an emergency
• Contribute to the organisation’s strategic plans, including the Statement of Corporate Intent, Corporate Plan, and long-term vision documents
• Ensure appropriate health and safety, environmental management, quality, and information security practices are implemented in accordance with organisational policies and relevant legislation
• Comply with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and standards
• Promote a Zero Harm culture and continual improvement in our Health and Safety management and performance

Essential criteria:
Mandatory requirements/qualifications/tickets/licences:
• Relevant Certificate qualification in Contract Management, Procurement or suitable demonstrated equivalent experience
• National Police Check.

Skills and experience:
• A sound knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, practices, and a working knowledge of the State Procurement Policy
• Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage confidential information and contribute to the development of organisational procurement procedures
• Outstanding customer service, organisational and time management skills with the ability to work unsupervised and as part of the team
• Demonstrated numeracy and written and verbal communication skills.

Software/Systems skills:
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of Technology One or similar system
• Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
