PO4 - Senior Environmental Officer - North Brisbane- Long term role, until 2031
- Based on site in Deagon, QLD
- Full-time, site-based role (occasional flexibility may be available depending on project needs)
- Some out-of-hours work may be required
Achieve Group is looking for an experienced Environmental Officer to support a major road upgrade project based in Deagon (North Brisbane). This is a site-based role where you will help manage environmental requirements across a large, complex construction project. You will play a key role in ensuring the project meets environmental standards, manages risks, and stays compliant with approvals and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Support environmental compliance and approvals across all stages of the project
- Assist with the preparation, review, and submission of environmental reports, documentation, and approval applications
- Help manage approvals processes, including EPBC-related requirements, ensuring deadlines are met
- Review and monitor permits, licences, and environmental management plans, ensuring all conditions are followed on site
- Assist with managing environmental offsets, including tracking, reporting, and compliance
- Review project designs and plans, including:
- Erosion and sediment control measures
- Water quality management
- Fauna and environmental protection plans
- Site establishment and layout
- Conduct regular site inspections and environmental audits to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Monitor environmental performance and report any risks, non-compliances, or improvement opportunities
- Attend project meetings and provide updates on:
- Environmental progress
- Risks and issues
- Upcoming requirements and deadlines
- Work closely with engineers, supervisors, consultants, and site teams to ensure environmental requirements are clearly understood and implemented
- Respond to environmental queries from the project team and provide practical, solution-focused advice
- Assist with sustainability requirements and reporting, including supporting project rating frameworks
- Identify environmental risks early and work with the team to develop and implement effective mitigation measures
- Support continuous improvement by helping to enhance environmental processes, systems, and site practices
About You- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar
- Strong understanding of environmental approvals and compliance
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Detail-oriented with good problem-solving ability
- Comfortable working on a construction site
Requirements- Current Driver’s Licence
- Experience in civil or infrastructure projects highly regarded
- Experience with sustainability frameworks (ISAP/ISC) is a bonus
