About The Role

A regional Council in North Queensland is looking for a reliable Plant Operator to join its Works team, operating and maintaining Council plant and machinery safely and efficiently under limited supervision. You'll need a current licence or certificate of competency (or be working toward one) for plant such as backhoe, mini excavator, front-end loader, road roller or tractor slasher/broom.

What You'll Do
  • Carry out daily pre-start checks, start-up/shutdown procedures and basic preventative maintenance on your allocated plant.
  • Complete your share of the Works programme, using sound judgement on routine tasks.
  • Check for underground services before digging, and report hazards, incidents or defects promptly.
  • Pitch in on other duties as directed, including labouring or operating other plant you're licensed for.
About You
  • Current licence/certificate of competency for relevant plant, or clear logbook evidence you're working toward one.
  • General Construction Induction White Card.
  • Solid background in road construction or civil works.
  • Comfortable working under limited supervision and in a team.
  • Physically able to manage manual handling and outdoor labouring in direct sun.
  • Able to pass a pre-placement medical.
Desirable: MR driver's licence, Working in Proximity to Traffic and Implement Traffic Management Plans certificates.
