People and Culture Officer – Townsville

Achieve Group are looking for an experienced People and Culture Officer to provide hands-on operational and administrative support to the People and Culture team. The role contributes to the effective delivery of core human resources activities, including recruitment coordination, employment documentation, employee onboarding, records management, reporting, and general administrative support appropriate to the role’s level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support end-to-end recruitment processes by preparing recruitment documentation, advertising vacancies, assisting with candidate shortlisting, coordinating interview schedules, organising pre-employment checks, and drafting employment offers
  • Coordinate onboarding and induction activities for new employees, ensuring all required documentation is completed and processed accurately
  • Establish, update, and maintain employee records within Human Capital Management (HCM) systems, including new starters, position changes, acting arrangements, pay adjustments, and salary increments
  • Maintain position descriptions in relevant systems and participate in position evaluation activities in line with the organisation’s job evaluation framework
  • Process employee separations, including managing exit documentation and checklists
  • Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of People and Culture policies, procedures, templates, and governance documentation, including administration of the People and Culture SharePoint site
  • Provide administrative support for annual and ad hoc initiatives and projects such as performance review processes, health and wellbeing programs, employee surveys, and employee recognition activities
  • Prepare and contribute to regular and ad hoc reports, including monthly Board reports, quarterly committee reports, and people-related dashboards
  • Support the development and implementation of organisational strategic planning documents and workforce-related initiatives
  • Ensure work practices align with health and safety, environmental management, quality assurance, and information security requirements in accordance with organisational policies and legislative obligations
  • Comply with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, and organisational standards
  • Promote a positive safety culture focused on continuous improvement and zero harm outcomes
  • Undertake other duties consistent with the responsibilities and level of the role, as directed by leadership
Requirements: 
  • National Police Check (or ability to obtain)
Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience providing administrative support within a fast-paced environment, with experience supporting a People and Culture or HR function
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating recruitment processes, with end-to-end recruitment exposure desirable
  • Proven ability to accurately maintain electronic and hard copy records and data management systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Well-developed organisational, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently, while also contributing effectively within a small, collaborative team
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Systems and Software Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience using Human Capital Management (HCM) systems such as TechOne, SAP, or Chris21 (or similar)
  • Oracle (highly desirable)
