Payroll Officer | Townsville
Full-Time Contract

Achieve Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to manage end-to-end payroll processing while supporting a broader finance and administration function. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong attention to detail, and enjoys working collaboratively within a finance team.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-end processing of weekly payroll, including pay increases, back pays and termination payments
  • Processing of monthly payments such as directors’ or executive fees (where applicable)
  • Interpretation and application of awards, agreements, and employment conditions
  • Maintain and audit employee payroll records
  • Preparation and reconciliation of end-of-year payment summaries, including FBT components
  • Respond to employee and management payroll enquiries
  • Maintain payroll reporting including leave balances, overtime and absences
  • Reconciliation of payroll-related general ledger accounts
  • Calculation of annual leave and long service leave accruals
Finance & Administration Support
  • Maintain Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable master data
  • Review supplier invoices and payment reports
  • Support debt collection and account control activities
  • Provide backup support across key finance and administration functions as required
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Demonstrated experience processing complex payrolls with multiple awards or agreements
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practice
  • Experience in general accounting and financial administration
  • Previous experience supporting a finance team in a busy environment
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team
Systems & Software
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience with ERP / payroll systems such as TechOne, Oracle or SAP (highly regarded)
Mandatory Requirements
  • National Police Check
  • Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence
