Are you a trade-qualified Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanic seeking a rewarding role within a dynamic fleet operations environment? We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our Fleet Maintenance team, responsible for the servicing and repair of fire appliances, pumps, and associated equipment to ensure operational readiness and compliance with all legislative requirements.

About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Workshop Supervisor, you will play a vital part in maintaining our fleet of heavy vehicles and specialized fire appliances. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality maintenance services that support essential frontline operations. The role involves conducting scheduled inspections, diagnostic troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure all assets meet safety, regulatory, and operational standards. You will also contribute to data entry, job sheet documentation, and uphold workplace health and safety policies to deliver efficient and effective service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine servicing, repairs, and scheduled maintenance on fire appliances and related equipment, ensuring compliance with heavy vehicle legislation and standards.
  • Diagnose faults, including electrical and mechanical issues, utilizing electronic diagnostic tools and conducting road tests as required.
  • Service and repair firefighting systems, pumping systems, and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Use hand tools, special tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to workplace health and safety policies.
  • Complete accurate job sheets, update parts inventories, and record maintenance activities via our Electronic Fleet Maintenance System.
  • Communicate effectively with the Workshop Supervisor regarding the condition of assets and any immediate repair needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training initiatives to maintain and develop your technical competencies.
  • Provide an after-hours, rostered on-call service for urgent repairs and maintenance of emergency response vehicles and equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:

  • Trade qualification as an Engineering Tradesperson - Level 1 Motor Mechanic (Heavy Vehicle Stream), or equivalent trade certification.
  • Current Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to appointment.
  • Proven experience in heavy vehicle maintenance, with knowledge of fire appliance systems being highly desirable.
  • Skills and knowledge relevant to light vehicle trades are considered and may be further developed upon appointment.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical faults accurately and efficiently.
  • Capable of using electronic diagnostic equipment and completing detailed documentation.
Special Requirements:

  • Willingness to participate in an after-hours roster for urgent maintenance and repairs of fire appliances and heavy vehicles.
