Corporate Affairs Advisor - Townsville

We are seeking a proactive Corporate Affairs Advisor for a contract of up to 6 months to lead and support communication, marketing, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. This role combines elements of corporate communications, event management, and social media strategy to build a strong organisational reputation, engage key stakeholders, and support strategic goals.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the organisation’s communications and marketing priorities, including community engagement, media relations, and promotional activities.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement campaigns and communication strategies.

  • Assist with responding to media enquiries, preparing press materials, and drafting messaging for public and stakeholder communications.

  • Manage social media presence across multiple platforms and create engaging content to increase awareness and engagement.

  • Plan and coordinate events for internal teams, stakeholders, and the community, including logistics, budgeting, and vendor management.

  • Facilitate community engagement initiatives, such as site tours, information sessions, and meetings with local groups or representatives.

  • Contribute to marketing campaigns promoting the organisation’s services, initiatives, or projects.

  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, and information management policies in all activities.

  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Promote a safety-first culture and support ongoing improvements in health and safety practices.

Experience & Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or event coordination.

  • Strong understanding of corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable for different audiences and platforms.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, media representatives, and community members.

  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities and working independently.

  • Skilled in digital marketing tools, social media management, and campaign analytics.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.

  • Strategic thinker with problem-solving skills and sound judgment.

  • Professional, ethical, and discreet in handling sensitive information.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with enterprise software systems, e.g., Oracle, Technology One, or similar

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Current C Class Driver Licence (QLD)

  • National Police Check

  • Pre-employment medical clearance

Preferred / Desirable
  • Ability to obtain required security clearance before starting the role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
