Job description

ROLE PURPOSE
 
The Senior Rehabilitation Consultant:
 
1. Conducts clinical assessments to determine worker and employer needs to recover at and return to work.
2. Develops plans to guide and implement a recovery at work in collaboration with relevant parties.
3. Implements, monitors and reviews rehabilitation plans to achieve a recovery at work.
4. Determines service closure at the most appropriate time .
5. Assists in the training of new consultants .

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Clear clinical direction
• Create timely, evidence-based reporting and documentation
• Maintain Case Manager records that are in line with Generation Health’s File noting policy and stated SLA parameter for each service
• Demonstrate a basic ability to identify barriers and appropriate solutions to solve for those barriers in a report
• Able to demonstrate through the life of a case the continual ability to identify barriers and solutions to solve for those barriers
• Participate in regular strategic file reviews with Manager or Lead Consultant
 

People
• Invite a client to participate in their own goal setting and remove barriers to participation in goal setting
• Ability to talk to the client about what they want and need to truly understand how we can best work in partnership with them
• See the client as an active participant in our service rather than a recipient. Invite them to participate in their plans so there are ‘no surprises’ and they can assist with problem solving
• Use of motivational interviewing techniques such as open ended questions to allow a client to open up and tell their story
• Use accurate empathy and reflection statements to demonstrate we have heard and understood them
• Think of the client as a purchaser of our services
• Respectful communication, engagement and rapport building with clients, customers and co-workers
• Live and demonstrate compliance to our values to clients, customers and co-workers
• Assist new staff induction by providing opportunities for observation
 

Qualifications  

 
Degree qualified in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, rehabilitation counselling, psychology, exercise physiology or equivalent
Maintain the associated Australian professional membership within your profession

Previous experience in injury management / employment and / or disability services desirable A minimum of 2 years Occupational Rehabilitation experience
