This internationally renowned company is looking to recruit an experiencedMechanical Engineer based at their Abbot Point site which is located at the northern tip of the Whitsundays, 25Km north of Bowen. This site is one of Queensland's major bulk ports for the coal mines and has unprecedented long term growth plans having recently expanded and updated their facility to ensure reliable supply of product to keep with the global demand. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager this role is responsible for:

Ensuring correct mechanical as built drawings by reviewing drawings provided, authorising modifications to drawings and assisting in the maintenance of the drawing register.

Contributing to effective mechanical maintenance by providing technical support and advice to the Maintenance Manager and other maintenance personnel. Please note the maintenance will be carried out on equipment that is not owned by the company resulting in a strong project focus.

Contributing to the Strategic Maintenance Plan through input on mechanical architecture and long term plans.

Contributing to effective financial management of the maintenance function through diligent input to development and execution of Capital and Asset Management budgets.

Contributing to the overall cost effectiveness of the maintenance function through the review of mechanical maintenance efficiencies and costs.

Providing effective input to Maintenance Planning through attendance at planning review meetings, analysis of maintenance delays and taking corrective action as required.

Ensuring effective Contractor Management through rigid enforcement and adherence to Contractor Management procedures.

Ensuring the development of the maintenance function through effective strategic planning and liaison with impacted stakeholders.
Suitable applicants must have:
-
Advanced Diploma, Associate Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering coupled with a trade background with significant relevant experience and studies in project management

Extensive experience in Operations and/or Maintenance/Asset Management

Knowledge of maritime bulk loading facilities
-
Contractor Management experience

Posses a grade C driver licence
-
Working knowledge of information systems and Microsoft Office suite ideally CMMS
-
High level of Technical Drawing understanding in large scale operations ideally with Port facilities

To have, or the ability to obtain, a Maritime Security Identification Card
-
Strong communication skills, a strategic approach in their thinking and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
